Are you unsure about what contemporary art is? Would you like to learn more about art and the role of a public art gallery? Do you feel intimidated about approaching the art gallery on your own but would like to learn more about the exhibits and artists? Then Discuss and Create is for you! This adult program is geared towards people that would like to learn and engage with art but have little to no experience and do not know where to start.
Join us to meet like-minded people at the gallery and enjoy a warm welcome to the world of contemporary art and public art galleries! Enjoy an introduction to the VPAG and our current exhibitions followed by a related introductory hands-on art activity where we will focus on the process rather than the result (that means no experience necessary! Just a willingness to explore materials and processes).
Explore new ideas, and engage creatively with arts and culture. Admission is by donation, adults all of ages are welcome to attend. For more information please contact our Education Coordinator Kelsie at 250-545-3173 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Relief Prints inspired by Sean Caufield
This month we will start our session off by engaging with the exhibition Active Workings by Edmonton based artist Sean Caufield. Inspired by his large scale relief prints and the deep subject matter and themes he explores, we will head to the classroom to create use the printing press to create our own relief prints.
