START TO STOP

BY: BRIAR CRAIG

Ultra-violet Screen Print

Fair Market Value: $750

Words, combinations of words and certain phrases tend to stick with me. Often, they come from popular advertising, random newspaper headlines, etc. I like to play with those words to see if a new configuration will resonate in an interesting way. "START TO STOP" resonated because the words came to me at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown.

Place and Identity

BY: CARIN COVIN

Enamel on canvas

Fair Market Value: $800

This work is from my MFA Visual Thesis. For my thesis, I combined my painting practice with lyric essays that I wrote. The ideas of place and identity were the subject of these written works. The issues of place researched the Westside of Okanagan Lake, where I make my home on the uncede lands of the Okanagan Nation and the settler history that I am a part of. Issues of identity revolved around aspects of my personal lens. The resulting works are text based visual investigations; the text manipulated, leaving room for the viewer to respond with their personal lens.

Just Thinking

This image started as a small abstract I did using sticks, paper clips, and found objects instead of using a brush. It reminded me of a business meeting and that's what this painting is about.

Shrine

BY: RHONDA NEUFELD

Intaglio

Fair Market Value: $450

The individual etched plates, from which Shrine is printed, are developed from rubbings of the individual fruit trees in a family compound in Ubud, Bali where I stayed over several weeks. In the Balinese belief system, spirits may animate trees, and many trees are considered sacred. When I have my hands on a tree, to get to know it through making a rubbing of its surface, I feel the life spirit of it, and I am also aware of its connection to the ground where it is rooted. The print is the residue of my experience of a specific place.
