Travelling Art Education Kits
Regional Reach is a new travelling art education initiative created by the VPAG to meet the needs of our schools in the outlying areas of Greater Vernon.
This year's kit focuses on Contemporary Indigenous Art and Includes:
-
A 65 page guide full of information and 10 cross curricular lesson plans inspired by five Indigenous artists.
-
Two books created by local Indigenous peoples
-
Art supplies and materials for your class to engage in an art education activity with a printmaking focus
-
3 original framed artworks from our permanent collection

Teachers can sign out the art kit for a 2 or 4 week period. The cost is $75 per class to use the kit, which covers the cost of the art supplies and materials for your class.
Teachers can choose between two art activities or for an additional $40 fee, the VPAG can include all the art materials and supplies to do BOTH art activities.

The guide covers the importance of art education, biographies of the five chosen Indigenous artists, then a variety of lesson plans inspired by each artist and their artwork.
The lesson plans also meet curriculum outcomes for Social Studies, Language Arts and Science.
The VPAG will deliver the kit to your school and you are responsible for returning it at the end of the lending period.
Frequently Asked Questions
We have a team of 4 classes that want to use the Regional Reach Art Kit. Do we each pay the $75 fee?
Yes, the $75 fee covers the cost of supplies for one class. If there are 4 classes using the kit, then each class pays the fee and we will supply the appropriate amount of supplies and materials for each class.
How long does it take to go through the guide with my class?
This will depend on the grade level of your class and if you decide to focus on all five of the contemporary artists or just one or two. In our trial run, teachers have mentioned that 4 weeks is the perfect amount of time to go through the guide.
